At Aletheia Academies Trust, we welcome governors from all backgrounds. Whether you’re new to governance or have prior experience, you’ll help guide our schools toward success and make a lasting difference.

What is a Governor?
A school governor is a volunteer who works with the leadership team to provide strategic oversight and ensure high standards across all areas of the school. Governors do not manage day-to-day operations, but they have a vital role in shaping the school’s vision, monitoring performance, and making decisions that benefit students, staff, and the wider community.
As a governor, you will:

Attend regular governing board meetings (usually termly)

Monitor school performance and outcomes

Contribute to key decisions on curriculum, staffing, and budget

Work in committees focused on specific areas such as finance or safeguarding

Undertake training and development to support your role
Time commitment is generally a few hours per month, including meetings, reading reports, and occasional school visits.

We welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about supporting education. You don’t need prior experience in schools.
