Frequently Asked Questions
A Multi-Academy Trust is a group of academies working together under a single legal and governance structure. Schools within a MAT retain their individual identity and character while benefiting from shared leadership, expertise and services. The Trust provides strategic oversight, accountability and support, enabling schools to focus on delivering high-quality education.
Schools choose to join a MAT for a range of reasons, including:
-
Access to shared expertise and school improvement support
-
Stronger collaboration between schools and leaders
-
Greater resilience and sustainability in a changing education landscape
-
Opportunities for staff development and leadership progression
-
Improved capacity to support pupils with additional or complex needs
At Aletheia, we believe in school-led improvement, where collaboration strengthens local leadership.
Aletheia Academies Trust provides a comprehensive range of central services and professional support designed to strengthen schools, reduce administrative burden and ensure long-term sustainability. This enables school leaders and governors to focus on what matters most: high-quality education, strong relationships and positive outcomes for pupils.
Support across the Trust includes:
-
School Improvement – bespoke, school-led improvement support tailored to each academy’s context and priorities. This includes leadership coaching, peer review, curriculum development, teaching and learning support, SEND expertise and access to specialist practitioners across the Trust. Our approach is collaborative rather than directive, drawing on shared expertise to build long-term capacity and sustainable improvement.
- Finance – strategic financial planning, budgeting support, procurement, audit compliance and value-for-money assurance, helping schools plan confidently and sustainably
-
Human Resources – recruitment support, safer recruitment processes, employee relations advice and payroll liaison, strengthening workforce stability and wellbeing
-
IT & Digital – infrastructure support, data protection and cybersecurity guidance, and oversight of systems to ensure reliability and compliance
-
Marketing & Communications – support with school communications, website compliance, branding and stakeholder engagement, helping schools communicate clearly and confidently with their communities
-
Operations – policy development, risk management, health and safety, and operational compliance, providing assurance and consistency
-

A values-driven, school-led Trust that respects local context, identity and ethos
All support is delivered in a way that is proportionate and responsive, recognising that every school has its own strengths, challenges and priorities. Our aim is not to centralise for its own sake, but to add value, provide assurance and work in partnership with schools, strengthening what they already do well.
No. Each academy within Aletheia retains its own identity, traditions and community relationships. For Church of England schools, Christian vision and distinctiveness remain central and are actively supported through our partnership with the Diocese of Rochester.
The Trust’s role is to strengthen and protect what makes each school distinctive, not to standardise unnecessarily.
The process begins with informal conversations to understand a school’s context, priorities and aspirations. This is followed by due diligence, stakeholder engagement and a clear transition plan, ensuring transparency and support at every stage.
